Where’s the beef?

After waiting almost a year for a processing appointment, we just received beef from two steers, and we’re giving folks on our waiting list “first dibs” on it. Meanwhile, we’re looking for processing spots for spring and fall. So far, all of the processors we’ve contacted say they have no openings until 2022 due to a Covid-related surge in demand. We’ll update this page when we know more!

All natural, pasture-raised beef

Heritage Acres of Arkansas is a small, family-run farm in Elkins. We sell grass-fed beef direct to our family and friends. And now our herd has grown large enough that we can supply a growing number of valued customers.

Why grass-fed beef?

Our cattle are grass fed and finished, which means they eat grass all their lives, from birth to processing. Grass-fed beef has more omega-3 fats, is leaner, and is just generally healthier than traditional, factory-farmed beef.

How does grass-fed beef taste?

Opinions vary, but most people who have tried grass-fed beef say it’s distinctly flavorful and, when cooked correctly, very tender. We certainly think so.

Grass-fed beef for less

Natural foods grocers charge a premium for grass fed beef: $8.99/lb for ground beef and $20/lb or more for prime cuts. Buying direct from small farms like ours is a great way to get all the benefits of grass fed beef for less than you would pay in the store.
